Which ship type performs best? 2019 pending orders exposed
In 2019, 60% of the total orders that should be delivered in the global shipping market have actually been delivered, exceeding the delivery rate of the same period in 2018 (50%).
Judging from the most common types of ships (tankers, dry bulk carriers, small dry bulk carriers and container ships), VesselsValue data shows that so far this year, 70% of orders for these types of ships have been delivered.
This is because despite the large fluctuations in these markets in the past year, they have generally performed well, and also encouraged shipowners to take advantage of the higher freight market and actively welcome the launch of new ships.
Conversely, in the poorly performing market this year, the due delivery rate of new ships is also low. By observing the following data, it is clear that the Offshore field belongs to this category.
Under unfavorable market conditions, it can still go up against the market, and the widely acclaimed marine work industry (OCV) field has only delivered 27% of new ships this year.
The field of liquefied natural gas (LNG) shows the fastest development, and 80% of the ships scheduled for delivery in 2019 have been completed.
Although the delivery rate of LPG ships is slightly lower (57%), it is still basically consistent with the overall average of all ship types.
